Dear Curtner Families,

Welcome back to another fantastic year at Curtner! I hope you all had a restful summer. I’m excited to serve the Curtner School community as President of the Curtner PTA this year. Just a little about me - I have two kids, Mia and Joseph, who are in 5th and 3rd grade, and I love that I’m able to be involved in their education through PTA. Also, I’m so fortunate that my kids and I have found such great friendships through the PTA. We’re lucky to be in a community where engaged parents and teachers work together to create such an enriching educational experience.

The Curtner PTA Executive Board had met over the summer and put together a new Mission Statement:

The Curtner PTA enriches the school experience by welcoming, supporting, and engaging parents & teachers through parent involvement and financial support. We are our communities’ ambassadors.

When we were going through the brainstorming exercise of putting this mission statement together, the Executive Board discussed what was truly important. What is the PTA’s responsibility? Fundraising was one of the first things that came to mind. Volunteering time was another. Yet, after going back and forth, when we distilled it down, each one of us is involved in Curtner PTA to ensure that our children have the very best educational experience as possible. To make it very simple: it’s for the kids.

Throughout the year, the Curtner PTA will do our best to ensure that this mission statement rings true in everything we do. For those of us who are already members - you are making an impact - thank you. For those of us who are not yet members – maybe you’re on the fence about joining, please do reach out to me. We can use your insight and talents – we need your help.

Here’s to an awesome year ahead! See you at our first PTA

meeting on Sept. 11th!
