Eligibility

Recommended Grades : 4th through 6th.  Students below grade 4 will be accepted, though we do not recommend it.  Without proper support, younger students can easily become afraid of Math, rather than excited by it.  We request parents from lower grades to sign a waiver form from the link https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdHmOL6cU0tsc1nTF4elu5y2_wH41qFl1bW0vqD62p-DSmMHg/viewform if they plan to register.

Program Details

Math Olympiad has a series of 5 contests running from November through March. All kids grades 4 through 6 take up the same contest.  The aggregate of the 5 contests will be used by the Olympiad organization to pick the top scorers. PTA will additionally recognize top scorers per grade level to ensure that kids at lower grades are not at an unfair disadvantage. Kids below grade 4 who enroll for the program will be compared against kids at grade 4.  If your child is unable to attend a contest for any reason including sickness they will not be able to retake the contest at a later date and will have a score of 0 for the contest as per rules of the Olympiad.

The practice questions will be from the Math Olympiad Contest Problem books and previous question papers sent across to the Olympiad chair ). As Math Olympiad organization does not allow the questions to be posted in the internet or transmitted electronically all practice materials will be sent as printed copies. All registrants need to comply with this requirement of the Math Olympiad and should not transmit Olympiad material electronically. PTA will be sending reminders for the practice problems for the week to the enrolled kids. All registrants will receive copies of the previous years question papers. For more practice problems registrants can either purchase the books (links sent across post registration) or request the PTA to send printed.
